Counting Down the Days Until The Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show!!!

Where can you go this weekend that is jammed packed with more excitement than the Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show at The Wharf?  Not only will there be hundreds of boats, from Kayaks to Bass Boats to Runabouts and Pleasure Boats to luxurious Yachts, the Mystics of Pleasure will have their 13^th Annual Thunder Run Poker Showdown on Saturday morning and there will be a Cobia Tournament and a two day Redfish Tournament!!!

Odyssey Events will be bringing the 2012 Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show back to the Wharf with the addition of a fantastic Hunting & Fishing Expo.  The Boat Show will encompass the entire waterfront and Main Street at The Wharf and the Expo will be at the Orange Beach Event Center with the Bass University and the Wild Whitetails Deer Exhibit.

Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show Will Present The Bass University

Do you want to take your bass fishing to the next level?  Odyssey Events proudly presents Bass University  a weekend seminar that offers something for every angler, beginner or veteran.  Anglers will have the opportunity to learn the tips and techniques of the pros Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April1 when Bass University opens at the 2012 Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show at The Wharf in Orange Beach, AL.  The event will be hosted by Bass University co-founders and professional bass anglers Mike Iaconelli and Pete Gluszek.

“Bass University is a two-day intensive program, taught by six of today’s top pro anglers in an easy-to-learn classroom style environment,” Gluszek said. “Students will have the opportunity to probe into the way a winning professional angler thinks, and ask questions about lures, tackle and techniques that win on a professional level.”

Gluszek is a river fishing specialist and a regular on the Bassmaster and FLW circuits. Iaconelli is a well-known angler on the professional circuits and has won the Bassmaster Classic and the BASS Angler-of-the Year title.

Other Bass University instructors for the Orange Beach program include:  Randy Howell, Mike McClelland, Paul Elias & Gary Kline.  Orange Beach Bass University seminar topics include:  The Alabama Rig, Bass Fishing-the Next Level, Football Jig, Lipless Crank Baits, Finesse Strategies, Deep Diving Crank Baits, Finding Bass Consistently, Structure Scan Sonar, and much, much more!

Bass University will be conducted at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf.  Registration will begin at 7 a.m. A complimentary continental breakfast will be offered Saturday morning and classes will run 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.  Cost is $199 for adults; $175 for students age 17 and under.  Walk ins are welcome as space permits.  To register for the event, go to www.thebassuniversity.com.

ODYSSEY EVENTS is kicking EVERYTHING up a notch for the 2012 Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show. The Mystics of Pleasure will be bringing their 13^th Annual Thunder Run Poker Showdown to the Gulf Coast’s biggest and best Yacht & Boat Show. With the addition of the new Performance Village on Main Street, a poker run was the obvious next step. Now the Gulf Coast Yacht and Boat Show will have it all:  A Performance Village dedicated to the powerboat enthusiast complete with high end race boats, parts, and accessories, personal watercraft, bass boats, performance boats, sport fishers and gorgeous yachts! AND a Hunting & Fishing Expo complete with The Bass University where you can Learn champion bass fishing techniques and interact with the best pros in bass fishing!

The Mystics of Pleasure Annual Poker Run, one of the largest of its kind on the Gulf Coast, will begin at the Wharf Marina at 10:00 am Saturday, March 31^st.  There will be 10 stops on the Run route:  Happy Harbor Oyster Bay, Happy Harbor On The Line, Tacky Jacks (Ft. Morgan, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach), Pirate’s Cove, Cobalt’s, LuLu’s, Bear Point Marina and The Mystics VIP Tent under the Foley Beach Express at The Wharf.  All Stops will close at 5:00 pm.  The party will begin at that time and participants must be in line for the dealing of the cards for the $5,000 Showdown no later than 7:00 pm!

And speaking of performance boats, Time Bandit, the Offshore Powerboat World Champion, crowned right here in Orange Beach last fall at Thunder on the Gulf, will be on display in Performance Village on Main Street all three days of this exciting event.  The Time Bandit Offshore Racing Team is sponsored by brothers Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, Captains of the gigantic crab boat of the same name from the famed Discovery TV show Deadliest Catch.

Are you ready for a visit from the Swamp People, one of History Channel’s most popular television shows?  Those crazy Cajuns are coming to the Wharf in Orange Beach for the Gulf Coast Yacht & Boat Super Show

March 30^th – April 1st.

A quick synopsis on the History Channel’s website reads: “Deep in the heart of Louisiana lies America’s largest swamp, a million miles of inhospitable bayous, marshes and wetlands where nature rules and humans struggle to tame it.  Many of its inhabitants are the hardened descendants of French refugees who were forced out of Canada in the 18^th century and settled in this harsh yet majestic environment.  Today, these people are known as Cajuns, a group renowned throughout the world for their flavorful cuisine, distinctive music and vibrant culture.  Resilient, self-reliant and fiercely independent, the Cajuns of the Atchafalaya Swamp still carry on many of their ancestors’ trades and traditions.

HISTORY follows these swampers through a time of year that is crucial to their survival:  the 30-day alligator hunting season.  At its core, this is a uniquely American story of a proud and skillful people fighting to maintain an ancient way of life in a rapidly modernizing world, despite the many perils and trials that stand in their way.”

New to this year’s Super Boat Show event is a gigantic Hunting and Fishing Expo at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf.  Two of the many Celebrity Appearances will be Trapper Joe & Trigger Tommy.  Trapper Joe and his stepson Trigger Tommy have hunted together since Tommy was a little boy.  Joe is passing on to Tommy all the swamp secrets he learned from his own father.  Forgetful Tommy can sometimes be a handful, but this gator-hunting team always ends up delivering the goods. Come and meet Joe & Tommy.  They will be appearing Friday March 30^th from 1-3pm and 5-7pm and Saturday 11am-1pm and 3-5pm.

The Sandusky location will allow the show to draw from both Toledo and Cleveland creating Ohio’s only true regional event.  With over 5000 people every weekend already taking part in the Kalahari experience, the RV show will sure to be a hit with it’s existing attendees and regional location.

The Kalahari RV and Camper Show was made possible, by a 22 million dollar expansion project scheduled to be completed in early December of 2011.  The expansion transformed Kalahari resorts into a true multi use facility by adding over 100,000 square feet of convention space.
